The Flame Hawkfish (Neocirrhites armatus) is a vibrant reef fish known for its fiery red body and bold personality. Native to the Indo-Pacific, especially around coral-rich areas, it perches on rocks and corals using its strong pectoral fins. Unlike many reef fish, it lacks a swim bladder, which gives it a unique hopping movement rather than typical swimming. Flame Hawkfish are carnivorous, feeding on small crustaceans, and can be territorial, especially toward smaller tank mates. Their striking color and quirky behavior make them a favorite in marine aquariums, though they’re best kept with non-shy companions.
