The Copperband Butterflyfish (Chelmon rostratus) is a striking marine species known for its long snout and vertical orange bands across a white body. Native to reefs and lagoons in the Indo-Pacific, it uses its narrow mouth to pick at small invertebrates and worms hidden in crevices. While beautiful and peaceful, it can be challenging to keep in aquariums due to its specialized diet and sensitivity to water conditions. It’s often sought after for its ability to help control pest anemones like Aiptasia in reef tanks. In the wild, Copperbands are usually solitary or found in pairs, gracefully navigating coral structures.
